The purpose of the role is to learn how to install, repair and carry out planned maintenance of customer equipment to company specifications.

Main responsibilities of the job:

  1. Learn how to install, repair and carry out planned maintenance of customer equipment to company specifications.
  2. Undertake an appropriate engineering apprenticeship, completing set modules on time and attending college as necessary.
  3. Work shadow a colleague, and develop an understanding of workshop procedures through on job training.
  4. Attend manufacturers training and other training courses as appropriate.
  5. Learn company administrative procedures, and how to complete worksheets, timesheets etc.
  6. Assist in keeping customer vehicles and company vehicles secure and clean whilst in the workshop.
  7. Ensure security and correct use and issue of all tools and spares issued.
  8. Understand and adhere to all company, legislative and Health and Safety procedures.
  9. Under close supervision, ensures all work undertaken meets industry and company work standards.
  10. To build and maintain good relationships with customers, colleagues and managers.

Qualifications required

A*-C grades including Maths, English and Science as a minimum. PROCAT will determine suitability by interview and proof of grades/predicted grades.

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
