The successful candidate will be required, initially with assistance, to:

  • Log support calls
  • Compile quotes and partner agreements
  • Carry out accounting activities (invoicing, payment journals, issue statements, queries, expenses etc.)
  • Book meetings and accommodation/flights
  • Take minutes and follow-up action points
  • Maintain customer and prospect data
  • Prepare/book demonstrations/training
  • Create/maintain document templates
  • Update company procedures
  • Order office equipment and provisions
  • Filing and maintaining schedules
  • Assist with marketing activities such as campaigns
  • Investigating mailshot ‘bounces’ blog and website updates
  • Finally, providing support to colleagues and any general office administration, as required.

On-the job training will be provided along with the agreed Level 2 apprentice training.

Interaction will be required with customers and other team members. On the rare occasion, there may be a requirement for customer site visits.

Desired skills

Qualifications and/or knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Office and Excel are desirable.

Personal qualities

The ideal candidate will be bright, enthusiastic, reliable, conscientious, motivated, and hard-working. In addition, the candidate will have a positive attitude, along with good written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications required

A minimum of 5 GCSEs (grade C or above) including Maths and English. or equivalent.

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week). For more information visit:

Who is the course for?

An Apprenticeship is a national work based training programme designed for each industry. It is a great way of earning and learning at the same time. This Apprenticeship Scheme is divided into two levels – Intermediate Level Apprenticeship (NVQ 2) and Advanced Level Apprenticeship (NVQ 3).

The term ‘administration’ covers roles that involve organising people and resources including; executive assistants, secretaries, administration assistants, data entry clerks and new office staff. The skills learnt are essential to the smooth running of any business and are also transferable.

What does the course include?

For the NVQ 2 and NVQ 3 you will study core units such as ‘Work in a business environment’, ‘Communicate in a business environment’ and ‘Improve your own performance’. Optional units will be chosen with relevance to your employment but could be units such as ‘Solve business problems’, ‘Prepare text from notes’, ‘Co-ordinate and event’, or ‘Analyse and report data’. Along with this you will also be completing a Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Administration and Key Skills in Application of Number and Communication.

What attendance is required?

Your assessor will liaise with you to set up mutually convenient times for consultation and assessment visits at your place of work. Attendance at College will be required to complete Key Skills and some parts of the knowledge certificate.

Learning and assessment

Continual assessment of competence in the workplace demonstrated from a variety of methods such as written reports, witness statements, observations and professional discussions.

On successful completion of this course you will achieve an:
