    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage rates are £4.05 an hour for 16 - 17 year olds, £5.60 an hour for 18 - 20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship(usually one day per week).

Apprentice Nursery Nurse will be required to complete the following duties:
Set up and carry out activities for the children
Observe the children and complete relevant paperwork to a high standard
Follow the policies and procedures of the setting at all times to ensure the health and safety of the staff and children
Assist with general hygiene and cleaning duties
Assist during meal times
Communicate with other staff members and parents on a daily basis

The starting wage for this role is the National Minimum Wage for Apprentices, which is £3.50 per hour from April 2017. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to students in the first year of any new apprenticeship, regardless of level, although some employers may pay a higher rate. 4. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training 5. A DBS check will be required which we or the nursery will help with. 6. Employer interviews will be carried out before the vacancy closing date, and a start date arranged as soon as possible if you are the successful candidate 7. This role requires you to be working with children for most of your day. You’ll speak to speak to parents and other staff, fill in paperwork on a daily basis and will be required to take children out of the setting when necessary.

Training provider

Apprentice Nursery Nurse will be employed for up to 40 hours per week. Your employer will appoint a work based mentor to support you and you will get a dedicated training manager from Smart Training. On completion of your training you will be awarded a Level 3 Diploma in Children's Learning and Development (Early Years Educator). You will be required to have achieved GCSE grades A-C in maths and English on completion of the course.
