As a Security Alarm Installation Apprentice, you will learn how to:

  • Fit appropriate Security Alarm Devices to Commercial and Domestic Properties
  • Maintain and service Security Alarm Devices

A successful apprentice engineer will have the opportunity to become a fully qualified engineer.
The position generally involves work around the North of England although there may be frequent staying away work around the UK.

Qualifications required

The minimum qualifications required are GCSE's (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade B and a qualification in an IT related subject.

Possibility of securing a permanent job within the company on completion of the Advanced Level Qualification.

Things to consider

A full and clean driving licence is required for this vacancy. Candidates will be subject to security and financial screening to ensure suitability for this role. The position generally involves work around the North of England although there may be frequent staying away work around the UK. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Training provider

  • Competency qualification: Apprentices will be required to produce work and build a portfolio of evidence which will include practical and written knowledge assessments which are carried out in the workplace.   This will include simulation on a test rig in a workshop environment.
  • Knowledge qualification is delivered in the classroom on a day release basis over a period of one academic year.  
  • Functional Skills at level 2 in Maths and IT and level 2 in English delivered in the classroom
  • Employment Rights & Responsibilities are delivered via a workbook and completed in the workplace.
  • Personal Learning & Thinking Skills are embedded in the competency qualification.
