A Local company in Lee Mill, just outside of Plymouth, are looking for the right candidate with proven interest in welding to join their growing business and skilled workforce. You will be given a variety of duties that include fabrication and weld.

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Intermediate Level Apprenticeship
This is a great opportunity to work with a leading cleaning equipment manufacturer and progress and learn new skills throughout the apprenticeship. The role is suited to a person with good hand skills and a genuine interest in Engineering.
The duties include:
- Fabricating and welding frames for the cleaning pressure washers,
- Assembly work to piece together the products,
- Assisting with the maintenance of equipment.
You will be supervised throughout your training with the employer, by a skilled member of staff, who will show you all the tools and equipment used for this position correctly and safely. You must follow Health and Safety procedures at all times in the work place, and make sure that all equipment and tools used are cleaned and put away after use.
Requirements and prospects
You must have a willingness to work hard, take on board instructions and show an ability to progress with your training. Being methodical and striving to achieve high standards is also required.
You must have the drive and enthusiasm to progress and learn throughout your training. Good communication and customer service skills are needed to deal with both customers and colleagues alike. Being able to work on your own and focus on the job in hand are also important.
You must be honest, reliable and have a proven interest in the motor trade with a genuine desire to learn and develop to succeed in this exciting role. You will need to be physically fit as some heavy lifting is required when removing wheels and exhausts.
Good timekeeping and attendance is required both when working with the employer and when attending the Skills Group training centre.
Qualifications required for this role include GCSE’s grades D or above in Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications.

- Internet Safety / Safeguarding
Attendance is required for one day per week at the Skills Group Training Centre. Other aspects of your training will be carried out on-site, where you will have regular visits every 6 to 8 weeks from your designated assessor to monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship.
Whilst at the training centre you will learn new hand skills, welding techniques and a variety of fabricating methods under the supervision of your Skills Group Assessor. Learning all these skills will benefit you on your return to your employer.
