Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Field Planting of rose rootstocks
  • Propagation (budding) of roses including selection & cleaning of propagation material
  • Field lifting of roses
  • Weeding
  • Watering
  • Spraying (Following training)
  • Pruning and Potting of Roses
  • Packing and dispatch of roses
  • Tractor Driving Duties at certain times of the year
  • You will be expected to use your own initiative at times
  • Meet, greet and advise Nursery visitors (following training)
  • Working effectively as a team member and safely carry out tasks using various tools, treatment products and machinery
  • Working safely under health and safety legislation

Future prospects

We are looking for someone to grow and develop within the business and eventually become a skilled/professional rose budder, field and nursery worker. There would be a full-time permanent position within the business for the right candidate with a future potential management role.

About the employer

Style Roses are a well known & established modern family rose nursery based at Holbeach in South Lincolnshire and close to Spalding, producing around 35,000 Garden roses and Standard roses each year for retail sales at the nursery, garden shows and internet sales. Production of roses is outdoor in fields and on the nursery container bed where roses are produced over a 2 year period for bare-root and container sales.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
