The Technical Apprenticeship is ideally suited to someone with a strong interest in IT:

You will have a natural flair for technology and the desire to understand more.

So you must have a passion for technology (but not necessarily technical training or qualification), a curiosity to learn and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications required

You will need to have obtained or be predicated to achieve a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grade A to C, including Maths, English, Science and preferably ICT.  On this 18 month programme you will gain a Level 3 qualification. 

Future prospects

Depending on the candidates progress, their could be the opportunity to proceed onto a three year degree program with Microsoft.

Things to consider

For the 2017 intake of our Apprenticeship programme you must be able to start yours in September 2017. Our Business Apprentice opportunities are base in Reading and London. To join our 3 year Degree Apprenticeship Programme you will need to have obtained or be predicated to achieve a minimum of 3 A Levels (or equivalent) ideally at grades ABB. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

About the employer

We don’t believe in the traditional notion of “work experience” either. At Microsoft you are given real responsibility from the outset, with an employment contract for the full duration of your Apprenticeship and funded training relevant to your role. When you complete your Apprenticeship, you’ll receive a nationally recognized apprenticeship qualification and support to help you continue your career at Microsoft.
