    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Duties to include:

  • Answering telephone calls and dealing with incoming enquiries.
  • Some basic finance and bookkeeping duties.
  • Creating posters and labels for the store.
  • Supporting the Store and Warehouse Teams where appropriate.
  • Setting up and supporting meetings.
  • Dealing with incoming outgoing post.
  • Ordering stationery.
  • A range of general administrative tasks will be included in the role such as filing, photocopying and scanning.

Personal qualities

  • The successful candidate will be dedicated with a good attention to detail. 

Qualifications required

  • GCSE's A*-C grades to include Maths and English or the equivalent qualifications.

There may be room for progression upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Things to consider

Candidates must be able to travel to the employer premises for an 8.30am start. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour from 1st April 2017. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
