Duties include:

  • To undertake service and maintenance tasks under the direct supervision of an experienced mentor commensurate with experience and level of training. 
  • To attend college and complete / submit course work on time and to a high standard 
  • Complete work based training programme / records in accordance with college requirements 
  • To undertake additional duties in line with capabilities as required
  • Take on additional responsibilities in second and subsequent years of training as agreed with line manager 
  • To carry out all tasks in compliance with the Company’s Environmental and Health and Safety Procedures ensuring that your workplace, including site work and roadside are safe for you to carry out the work required and that you have taken the necessary precautions to ensure your safety and that of others affected by your actions.

Qualifications required

GCSE grade 4 or above (grade C) in Maths, English and IT or equivalents (preferred).

Future prospects

Once apprenticeship up to L3 is complete, goals and objectives will be set to achieve Grade B Plant Fitter status.

Things to consider

Successful candidates will be required to stay away from home during college block release. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
