Responsibilities include:

  • Providing excellent customer service to all customers.
  • Assisting head chef.
  • Fulfilling your role on each given shift.
  • Ensuring the kitchen is cleaned regularly and meets the required health and hygiene standards.
  • Preparing, cooking and presenting food in line with required standards.
  • Keeping preparation at the right level.
  • Making sure that food is served promptly.
  • Monitoring food production to ensure consistent quality and portion size.
  • Stock control following relevant hygiene, health and safety guidelines.
  • Creating new dishes.

Qualifications required

For this framework A-C in Maths and English is desirable, however all applicants will be considered on merit subject to initial assessment against the requirements of the framework.

Willingness to learn is key.

Future prospects

This position is for the term of the Apprenticeship programme but the right candidate will have the opportunity to progress onto a full-time position and possible progression opportunities within the company.

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

From our apothecary situated on the corner of Heath Road, we offer a carefully chosen range of health foods and supplements. And of course our award-winning cafe is the place to enjoy healthy breakfasts and lunch, juices and smoothies, and tempting home-made cakes. We have no less than six daily-made interesting and tasty salads, and you can have these as they are or with chicken, salmon, or tofu. Then perhaps finish off with our delicious fair trade coffee, or choose from a range of interesting teas.
