    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Duties to include:

  • Assisting the stylists in all aspects.
  • Providing outstanding customer service to clients in the Salon.
  • Performing reception duties.
  • Learn a variety of Level 2 hairdressing skills including shampooing, mixing colour etc.
  • Taking part in set training.
  • Maintain salon health and safety.
  • As competence is proven you will be given additional tasks assisting the stylists.

  • No previous experience required although this would be an advantage.

Personal qualities

  • Good communication skills.
  • Good dexterity skills.

Qualifications required

  • No prior qualifications, although GCSEs at grade C or above in Maths and English or equivalent would be an advantage.

Future prospects

On completion of your apprenticeship to the owner's standards, and under her discretion, you may be asked to continue onto your Level 3 or stay with the company as a new employee.
