Intermediate Level Apprenticeship
Country Skittles is seeking an enthusiastic individual, with a passion for food, to join their professional team as an Apprentice to the Head Chef. As part of the team of chefs at Country Skittles, you would work within a team of around 20 people and a chef/cooking staff of 3 or 4 people. You would be trained in all aspects of cooking meals in a busy kitchen, all aspects of Health and Safety in the workplace and use of catering equipment in our busy kitchen. As your skills develop so will your duties and responsibilities.
These will include:
- Working under the Head Chef in creating dishes and meals
- Inspecting and ensuring the quality of ingredients
- Preparing ingredients for meals
- Measuring ingredients and portion sizes
- Giving input to menus and specials
- Work to improve the quality of dishes
- Helping with deliveries and storage of stock
- Ensuring good hygiene and health and safety at all times

Requirements and prospects
The ability to absorb information, be well organised and show initiative are all critical to being a success in our place of work. In addition, being enthusiastic, punctual and reliable are fundamental requirements.
We are a small friendly team of people at Country Skittles, and therefore the ability to work well with other people as part of that team is essential in order to maintain the friendly, efficient environment we have here.

GCSE or equivalent Grade D or above in Maths and English is preferred, but not essential for the right applicant.

About the employer
- NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery
- Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles
- Functional Skills in Maths and English, if required.
This apprenticeship programme is delivered through a combination of Work Based Assessment and 1 day a week at college.
