During this apprenticeship the learner will deal with things like serving customers food and beverages, also they will be taking food orders from customers and passing them on to the head chef for them to prepare.

They will also help to keep the cleanliness of the kitchen up and running whilst helping to restock when running low.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

The learner should be good with using the phone to communicate with people. Also they must be good with handling money as they may need to deal with a customers bill with a card machine or even cash.

Personal qualities

The Flowing Spring is looking for someone who has good customer service and is a friendly, happy person to be around. The learner also must have good English when speaking to other customers who may have dietary requirements and making sure they hear everything correctly.

GCSE A-C or equivalent desirable.

Future prospects

A full time job at The Flowing Spring. As well as maybe a year or two down the line becoming bar manager.

Things to consider

The Flowing Spring is not close to any public transport. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

About the employer

The Flowing Spring Pub is a very friendly, cosy and traditional country pub, which deals very well with dietry requirements and are happy to do whatever they can to make there customers happy. They are a team of 5 at the moment and looking for a passionate person to fill that extra spot.
