    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Qualifications required

GCSE A*-C Grade in English and Maths or equivalent desirable but not essential.

Please note: you will be invited to an Initial Assessment at Central Training Group where we will assess your Maths and English levels. This enables us to see if you have met the entry requirements or whether you may need some support.

Future prospects

Complete apprenticeship at NVQ Level 2 and progress to junior stylist within salon. Possible opportunity to further own skills by completing Barbering NVQ level 2 and/or Hairdressing NVQ Level 3.

Things to consider

Vacancy for candidate requires physical work. Training sessions in salon on models. Day release to college for training at Central Training Group and Joshua Galvin Academy. Once the completed application form that was sent to you is received you will then be required to attend an Initial Assessment and Information Session with Central Training Group. Please note: we will send your details to the salons which you have applied for. Someone from the salon may contact you to arrange an interview via telephone or email. If you cannot make the interview or do not want to pursue the interview, please let them know as soon as possible. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.40 per hour from 1st October 2016. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
