A new role has been developed to assist the Managing Director and Marketing Director with a range of areas across the business.

The role requires a confident customer service handler, office admin, but also somebody able to move stock in the storage depot, for example unloading deliveries of small and larger furniture items (with training, equipment and assistance). We anticipate the manual handling portion of the role will account for around 1/3 of time, with the remaining 2/3 of time spent in the office taking care of admin and customer service emails/calls.

The Apprentice will work in administration and the duties will include:


  • Receiving goods at the warehouse from suppliers and moving/opening/checking items for damage.
  • Packing items ready for dispatch via private drivers and pallet companies.
  • Planning and liaising with delivery companies to deliver goods – by email and phone.
  • Preparing delivery paperwork – labels, PODs etc.
  • Answering telephone calls and emails from customers – both sales and after-sales enquiries, being able to advise on product specifications, delivery timescales, and take card payments.
  • Deal with suppliers, ordering stock, arranging deliveries and making payments.
  • Updating sales records via Excel.
  • Logging stock levels.
  • Web research to check the price and promotion of same/similar products sold by competitors.
  • Adding pre-written products (from our copywriter) to the website via the content management system.
  • Attend trade shows and research new suppliers.


  • Able to handle and move light and heavier items - note: proper manual handling equipment/training and assistance will be provided.
  • An interest in interior design and related products.
  • Articulate and confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of digital proficiency including using Microsoft Office programmes, web-based systems and web research.
  • Practical thinker, able to solve logistical issues, such and scheduling deliveries and collections.
  • Good customer service skills, able to reassure and advise customers.
  • Creative thinking – able to suggest ideas for improvement across the business.

Driving licence and own vehicle required to travel between office and storage depot (mileage/car expenses will be covered).

Good understanding of numeracy and literacy.

5 GCSE qualifications at grade C including English and Maths

Future prospects

This is a new and exciting role that will grow and develop with our business. As the business grows, this role will become ‘the right-hand man’ of the MD and will enjoy personal development in the area of web commerce and furniture retail. This is a role that we are committing to in the long-term. As the role develops, the post-holder will become responsible for managing freelancers and staff and the business grows. The post-holder will be provided with relevant training and education, and equipment. The role will be based in a custom-built office at 3 Rushey Lane. Should the successful postholder make good progress within the three-month review period, a pay increase will be offered.
