You will work as part of a growing team in a 2-man or 3-man team depending on workloads however, you also must be able to work on your own at certain points.

Everyday tasks include but not restrictive to:

  • Grass cutting
  • Shrub bed maintenance
  • Hedge cutting
  • White lining and environmental duties

We also carryout ad hoc jobs such as tree surgery, small landscaping jobs and playing field renovations which the successful candidate will be involved when appropriate.

We have sites located all around Kent so every day is different. Due to the rural location of the yard, it is necessary for the successful candidate to have a full driving licence and own vehicle.

Please be aware that you must be willing to work longer through peak growing times and that options for over time are available.

Qualifications required

Maths & English GCSE at grades A* to D, or equivalent.

 

Please note that if you do not have to desired qualification, you may be required to undertake Functional Skills English and Maths.

Potential to stay on permanently with the view to gain experience and focus on becoming a team supervisor.

Things to consider

The start times are early, 06.30am, so must be prepared and committed. It can be hard work during peak times, which can be very testing and you must be prepared to work outside in all weathers. Certain work will take place on school grounds so must be aware of surroundings and language. You will need a full driving licence due to the nature of the role and access to your own transport due to the rural location of the yard. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour from 1st April 2017. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
