Preci-Spark Limited has multiple opportunities for people looking to develop into skilled engineering craftsmen. This is achieved through structured development based training and work experience in areas like - Interpreting technical drawings, Welding, Fabrication, Eroding, Milling, Turning, Tool Making and Health and Safety.

We offer a Craft Advanced Apprenticeship programme to level 3 in engineering and vocational training to gain NVQ qualifications. This is delivered through block or day release studies, while still in full time employment. We will get you involved with hands on practical applications from the moment you finish your basic studies with our training partners.

Things to consider

Apprentices will be based at the Coalville site for the first 6 months of the Apprenticeship. You must be able to travel to Coalville, Loughborough and Syston sites throughout the Apprenticeship. Application Process Stage One Should applicants meet the selection criteria they invited to attend an Apprenticeship Preparation Event at Loughborough College within 1 week of making their application. Stage Two If you are successful following the event you will be invited for an interview with the client during week beginning 12th June 2017 and notified as to whether you have been successful. Working Week Your core hours will be between 7.45am – 4.30pm Monday-Thursdays and 7.45am – 11.45am Fridays, with ½ hour lunch break. However, you will be expected to have a flexible approach within your work and academic timetables. Salary You can expect to earn a salary of between £9500 and £10000 during the first year. Yearly increases based on performance could see your income rise to £18800-£26000 (including productivity bonus) within 5 years. This is in addition to the skills and academic qualifications you will have achieved that are yours for life. All applications must be made through the National Apprenticeship Service website. Do not contact the employer directly. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training. Please ensure you are able to arrive at Preci-Spark in order to start work for 7.45am on a daily basis before applying for this position. You may on occasion be expected to take on duties outside your job description. Please note the job details specify the closing date of the vacancy. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Training provider

An Advanced Apprenticeship includes:

  • An NVQ at Level 3 in an engineering related subject
  • An Advanced Engineering Technical Certificate
  • Technical Certificates focus on the knowledge and understanding that underpins the NVQ, and will consist mainly of work based delivery with some attendance in college. Apprentices will also learn about Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR).

If functional skills are required they will be delivered on a weekly basis at Loughborough College
