This is an exciting opportunity for an apprentice who has a passion for film making. The candidate must have some experience of using Final Cut Pro X and must be a quick learner. Basic Camera / DSLR knowledge would be an advantage.

This role will begin in the editing studio with some simple editing including:

  • Syncing.
  • Organising.
  • Backing up data.
  • Creating DVD templates and creating final DVDs.

The apprentice will then move on to simple video projects.
As the apprentice develops within the role their workload will become more challenging. They will be responsible for different audio works and move onto making trailers with music. To develop the apprentice they will also be attending live events and will be training as a junior camera operator filming a variety of wedding events using various DSLR cameras and lenses. There will be opportunities to train and use other film kit like Go Pros, steadycam gimbles and jibs cranes.

  • The apprentice will need to have high level computer skills.
  • Basic knowledge/ experience with editing software such as Final Cut Pro X is essential.
  • The apprentice needs to be able to use their initiative.
  • High levels of customer service will be essential.
  • The Apprentice must be a quick learner

Personal qualities

This is a creative role and the apprentice will need to have the ability to use their initiative and express their ideas.

A passion for videography and weddings is essential.

Qualifications required

None required.

Although GCSE A* - C/Level 2 Functional Skills in maths (or equuivalents) English and ICT is desirable.

Future prospects

The minimum duration for this qualification is 15 months. This apprenticeship will allow the apprentice to progress to further employment, self-employment or further study.

Things to consider

This role will include long periods of time in front of a computer. Weekend and bank holiday work will be required. From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
