    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

A traditional family run hotel in the heart of Lytham St Annes are seeking a commis chef for their top of the line kitchen.

As a commis chef you're on the first rung of the ladder to becoming a great chef. In most kitchens you'll do food preparation work and basic cooking under the supervision of a chef de partie or section chef, rotating through sections such as sauce, vegetables, fish and butchery roughly every six months.

This is your big chance to learn all there is to know about your trade!

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene
  • Preparing the ingredients for a more senior chef
  • Measuring dish ingredients and portion sizes accurately
  • Dealing with deliveries and stock rotation


This vacancy is strictly a paid apprenticeship and should only be applied for by people who understand that although you are in a working environment you MUST be willing to allocate one day a month to completing your allotted coursework. You will be personally tutored inside the office by an Assessor who will be your independent tutor and will help you pass your Business Administration Level 2 Government Recognised Qualification.
