Key Responsibilities

  • Inputting of key shipment data into the company operating system
  • Advising clients of regulatory requirements (e.g. customs/DG). 
  • Liaising with and utilizing the company agent network and worldwide offices. 
  • Import Customs declarations including entries into and out of bond
  • Dangerous Goods handling
  • Creation of shipment files.
  • Proactive monitoring of shipment statuses. 
  • Inputting track and trace data. 
  • Updating clients of shipment status. 
  • Advising agents of handling procedures. 
  • Recording and reporting of shipment data to Key Accounts and direct to clients. 
  • Ensuring and maintaining compliance with HMRC/EU Directive import regulations. 
  • Ensuring and maintaining compliance with DEFRA/CITES/FERA and any other regulatory body governing imports into the UK. 
  • Retention of import records. 
  • Previous experience is essential.
  • Experience using Multi Freight Preferable.
  • Calculate taxes for clients

Qualifications required

As this role relies heavily on maths and spreadsheets, you must hold a GCSE qualification at grade A or B or equivalent.

GCSE English at grade C or above or equivalent.

Upon completion of your apprenticeship, there is the opportunity for full time employment for the right candidate.

Things to consider

As you will be required to calculate customer taxes, you must have a good understanding of maths and be able to put it in to practice. The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From April 2017 the ANMW was set at £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
