As a level 2 Childcare Apprentice your daily duties will include:

  • Prepare and fully set out equipment before the children arrive, likewise ensuring all such equipment is stored safely at the end of each session, leaving the setting clean and tidy.
  • To assist with meals and snacks. Attend training and development events and keep in accordance Childcare policies and procedures.
  • To offer support to practitioners and undertake reasonable duties as directed by the Manager/ Deputy Manager/ Senior Practitioners, in accordance with Smart kids Childcare business plan/objectives.
  • To ensure that the nursery building is a safe environment for children, staff and others, that the equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented at all times.
  • The working days are Monday to Friday. Hours will be between 30 - 40 hours per week.
  • We are a 10 minute bus ride from Preston City Centre. No19 stops at the top of the road.

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week). For more information visit:
