    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

We can provide training so a willingness to learn is all you really need at this stage.

However any skills or knowledge you bring with you is very much welcome.

Qualifications required

5 GCSE's grade A*-C including English and Mathematics or equivalent.

Future prospects

There is always the possibility of future employment for good committed candidates. As well as good support and training while on their course.

Things to consider

All applications are subject to a successful pre selection interview day at Hertford Regional College. Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to18 year olds is a priority and fully funded by government. Training for apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded by employers and they are expected to make part or full contribution. The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour. Anyone not covered by the age category above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate to their age. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training. We all are very committed and work hard at Highfield. We are very much child centred. There is also lots of messy play!

We are a small family run business, providing full day care, pre-school and nursery education. We are located in Braughing, Hertfordshire and serve all local villages as well as nearby towns. We take a maximum of 25 children per day.
