    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

You will be involved in:

  • Making bespoke kitchen doors, mantles, fire surrounds, tables and anything else the customer requires.
  • Machining (subject to age) timber for doors and components for cabinets.
  • Assembly of bespoke carcases for kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, studies and again anything the customer requires.
  • You will also have the chance to learn aspects of spray finishing in our spray shop.

  • Good practical skills and be able to communicate effectively with others.
  • Be aware of Health and Safety in the workplace and be prepared to listen, follow instructions and take guidance from experienced professionals.

Personal qualities

  • You should have a positive attitude and be keen with an eagerness to learn.
  • You must be prepared to work hard, do some early starts and see a job through to the end, so commitment is extremely important for this role

Qualifications required

GCSE grade D or above in Maths and English or equivalent. If you have the required D Grades in Maths and English it is expected that you will continue these subjects in college and work towards a Level 2 qualification (Grade C equivalent).
