    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

 

General

To observe Old Holly Ltd’s standard of customer care at all times, for both internal and external customers.

Be familiar with all Health and Safety and COSHH regulations

Take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of yourself, your colleagues and Old Holly Ltd customers, who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.

Be familiar with the emergency procedures at Old Holly Farm.

Be aware of and show constant vigilance towards, the risks of fire and theft, and at all times observe current instructions of fire and security issued by Old Holly Farm.

Maintain good working relationships and team spirit with all fellow employees.

Support your colleagues by coaching, working as a team, and during busy periods as necessary or requested by management.

Maintain all equipment in a safe condition, clean and good working order.

Maintain a clean working environment, including floors, windows, glass, service counters and toilet facilities, as prescribed by Food Hygiene regulations.

Regularly remove all rubbish and waste from the building to maintain a clean and tidy working environment, which protects health and safety

 

Product

To effectively manage all supplies which reduces waste and maintains quality of food

To store all supplies to the guidelines of EHO and any other regulations.

To use product to the best end use and to maintain high standards of food served to all customers.

Report any product that has arrived in a poor condition or is not to the required standard.

 

Operational

To support the completion of the daily, weekly and monthly checks of temperatures, cleaning and equipment to ensure compliance and effective operation.

Abide by all Food hygiene and EHO visit standards (including effective use of SFBB).

Work alongside the Old Holly Chef’s, Manager and Assistant Manager to ensure an effective service operation is maintained at all times.

To serve all food in an efficient, professional and friendly way

To follow the Old Holly Farm ways of working in the Playbarn, Café and Shop to deliver great service and ensure the safety of all patrons of Old Holly Ltd.

Qualifications required

No specific qualifications are required, however good maths and English skills will be expected.

Following successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be the opportunity of full time employment and the potential to progress onto further training.

Things to consider

You will be expected to work over a 7 days a week rota, which means you must be flexible.

About the employer

We are a family run, working organic dairy farm and you can find us in Garstang, Lancashire. We are open from 9am – 5pm daily, with FREE entry to the open farm and parking. We have a fab indoor soft play, a traditional stone courtyard café serving homemade food, treat yourself to a Coolcow ice cream from our farm shop, or come along and meet our traditional farm animals. We also host children’s parties, educational trips and have special events throughout the year.

Training provider

Full training will be provided on an ongoing basis through your employer and College.  An sector based assessor will be allocated to you to progress/support you through you course and you will be expected to attend college one day per week (unless stated). Time spent training will be part of the agreed contracted hours of the working week.

Candidates will gain a level 2 qualification in catering and professional chefing upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
