This opportunity will give you a wide skill set, converting vehicles into wheelchair accessible vehicles, from removal of the internal parts and trim of a vehicle to fitting electrical equipment such as winches, sensors and ramps.

What you will do in your working day

  • Removal of vehicle external and internal parts / components
  • Fitting of hydraulic equipment, lifts
  • Trim and finish carpet & vinyl components fixing with adhesives
  • Modification & fitment of fuel tank, exhaust, brake and Fuel pipe systems
  • Refitting of vehicle internal and exterior including trim panels, carpet, head lining, lighting, and bumper
  • Fitting of electrical equipment. Including winches, reversing sensors, belts, lighting
  • Fitting of options as per customer specifications, including seats, ramp, storage
  • Modification and fit trim-related sub-assemblies
  • Under seal spraying
  • Keep good housekeeping of work area
  • Safe use and general maintenance of power tools and equipment

The training you will be getting

  • The Apprentice will work towards their Level 3 Engineering Fitter Standard with either a mechanical or electrical pathway
  • This will be through training with Gowrings, weekly day release to college and workplace training and reviews
  • Functional skills maths and English Level 2 will be delivered in person if required
