What you will do in your working day

At Wilkin Chapman Solicitors, we have an excellent opportunity for a HR Apprentice to join the Human Resources department in our Grimsby office, from September 2024. 

This role would be an excellent first step into a career in HR, having completed A-level or equivalent study. You will have the chance to earn while you learn, supporting the HR team with all aspects of HR administration to ensure delivery of a first class and efficient HR service across the Firm.

Your main duties will include:

  • Providing administrative support to the team on all HR matters to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
  • Assisting with straightforward HR queries and provision of basic advice where appropriate.
  • Preparing basic letters and forms using system templates.
  • Supporting the HR Co-Ordinator with onboarding and induction arrangements.
  • Assisting with collation of data for regular reporting requirements.
  • Inputting and maintenance of data on the HR System, ensuring that all employee records are accurate and up to date.
  • Providing assistance with meeting co-ordination, organisation, and material preparation.
  • Attendance at meetings as note taker; typing up notes in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Providing administrative support with aspects of the recruitment process.
  • Prioritising own workload to ensure that objectives are met.
  • Undertake an appropriate Apprenticeship qualification and apply learnings and best practice to the role.
  • Ensuring that the policies of the company are observed, and that good practice is encouraged, particularly in the areas of Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Confidentiality

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by the organisation which are relevant to your post within the company to meet the overall business objectives.

The training you will be getting

As a HR Apprentice, you will undertake the Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship and your training will include the following:

  • Opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to work within an office environment;
  • 1 day per week dedicated towards training and learning new skills;
  • A tutor who will provide you with personal support and assessment at pre-arranged times;
  • Assessment through a variety of methods including observations in the workplace, witness testimonies, product evidence and professional discussions.
  • Maintaining an electronic portfolio of your work to evidence your learning and development.
