Summary

An opportunity exists for an apprentice to join our forging team and, building upon their existing enthusiasm, education and practical experience, the result will be a fully skilled engineer who is able to undertake a wide range of manufacturing and production roles.

£14,722.50 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Initially accompanied by a fully skilled member of the team. The job holder will increasingly become sufficient as their knowledge and skills develop. 

Duties will include programming machines to make complex parts, operating production machinery along with learning engineering practices and procedures. Including the use of measuring equipment and reading engineering drawings. 

Subject to the job holder's wishes and attainment, education will progress with experience, up to and including a degree level qualification.

Individuals must attend PTP's Walsall Centre once a week (Essex Terrace, Intown, Walsall, WS1 1SQ).

To achieve this apprenticeship, the successful candidate will be expected to undertake both college-based and practical learning and to contribute to the delivery of the housekeeping, productivity and quality targets of the business. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to progress through advanced apprenticeships, HND etc.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 3/D and above)
  • Maths (grade 3/D and above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

Requires a driving licence. Higher level attainment in Maths is a distinct advantage.
