Summary
We have an exciting and unique opportunity available for an Apprentice to join our administration teams. This role is ideal for someone with the desire and drive to succeed and learn in a busy, friendly and supportive department. You will assist with all aspects of the daily administration across our property, finance and social action teams.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
You will be required to assist with all aspects of the daily administration across our Property, Finance operations and social action (Caritas) teams. You will support the teams with administration on a rota of placements across the different departments giving a broad appreciation of business administrative duties. You will liaise with Parishes, Parish Priests and Curial (administrative) team members to ensure the efficient and timely workings of the departments.
- Answering telephone calls as and when required and signposting to the appropriate staff member
- Maintain electronic and hard copy filing systems and retrieve documents in accordance with UK GDPR guidance
- Maintain project monitoring and action planning spreadsheets and prepare reports and updates
- Handle requests for information and data
- Basic report writing, proofreading, checking and circulating accordingly
- Liaise with the parishes regarding appointments, meetings and reports
- Supporting departments with their entries for social media, intranet, etc
- Prepare and modify documents including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos and emails
- Schedule and co-ordinate meetings, appointments and travel arrangements
- Prepare agendas for meetings and prepare schedules where appropriate
- Record, compile, transcribe and distribute minutes of meetings
- Organise events administration including setting up for meetings, refreshments, welcoming attendees
- Supporting delivery of face-to-face and online events
- Creating and using design tools such as CANVA and creating spreadsheets for monitoring and evaluation
- Researching parish and school newsletters to look at social action issues
- Updating information sheets through online research
- Using Google and other analytics to prepare simple reports on our social media impact
This list is not exhaustive but gives an example of some of the duties and can be added to as required and in accordance with Diocesan needs.
The successful candidate will be given all relevant training to work and develop in the role.

About this company
The Diocese of Plymouth is the Catholic Church in the South West of England which was founded in 1851 and comprises of the counties of Cornwall, Devon and Dorset. Our Curia offices are set in the beautiful countryside of Ashburton in St Boniface House. Our offices comprise of several departments including Finance, HR, Property, Safeguarding and Education.
