What you will do in your working day
Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
- Receiving patients at the surgery and welcome visitors to the Company
- Prompt response to telephone calls
- Collecting and passing on messages. Assessing the urgency of messages
- Making appointments for healthcare professionals either in person or on the appointment line
- Advising and assisting patients when making appointments via the Newark & Sherwood Gateway
- Dealing effectively with queries (personally or by directing them to the appropriate person)
- Ensuring that the clinicians have all the patient information required for clinics
- Miscellaneous filing into paper medical records
- Receiving requests for repeat prescriptions in person, by telephone or via the internet and entering them into the computer.
- Using e-mail to communicate within the Company team
- Registering new patients and temporary residents into the Company
- Scanning patient correspondence, discharge letters, etc onto the patient clinical record
- Entering patient data onto their clinical record
- Checking adequate supply of controlled stationery and specimen bottles, etc.
- Periodic checks of files for incorrect filing
- Checking in & receiving payment from patients for non-NHS services
- Administrative tasks, as required
The training you will be getting
- The successful candidate will work towards achieving their Apprenticeship Standard in Customer Service Practitioner Level 2
- A dedicated work-based trainer will be assigned to the candidate to provide them with support and guidance throughout the course. This is a prominently work-based programme with College attendance required once a month
- All learning will take place at the candidate's place of employment/College and within their contracted working hours
