What you will do in your working day

  • Preparing fresh food to order for our country inn, carvery and spa 
  • Catering for events such as weddings as we have a function room 
  • Helping to devise specials and prepare afternoon teas 
  • Ordering, storing and keeping record of stock 
  • Cleaning down during and after service 
  • Working with the team to promote a good customer experiance 

The training you will be getting

You will study the Commis Chef level 2 apprenticeship whilst being fully supported and mentored by the head chef and catering team.  

You will attend college on a weekly basis, spending time in the training kitchens at the Buxton Campus receiving training from industry-qualified and very experienced staff (college transport is available).

If you require maths & English qualifications there may be an opportunity to study Functional Skills as part fo your apprenticeship depending on your personal circumstances.  

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

After you have passed the course there is potential for a permanent position and further training/career progression. We have many ex-apprentices still working with us.

Things to consider

Please consider how you will get to work each day, the public bus service is poor. From Leek, you could consider the Moorlands Connect local, bookable, bus service or ask friends and family if they're able to support you if you do not already have your own transport. You will be required to work evenings and weekends on a rota basis. We are open all year round, including Bank Holidays, except for Christmas Day when we close so that all staff can enjoy time with family and friends.
