What you will do in your working day

Working in our workshop with qualified joiners to build wood products, such as windows doors, staircases and bespoke heritage products etc. You will be shaping and cutting materials by setting out, marking out and manufacturing basic architectural products and all associated ironmongery. You will be using and array of basic and technical tools to complete tasks under supervision, working to drawings.

  • Assist in parts of the process of manufacturing bespoke joinery, this will vary as your progress through the apprenticeship.  
  • Learning skills requried for the role and ensuring you follow health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensuring that general tasks throughout the workshop are completed.

Functional Skills in English and maths of required

Pathway  - Architectural Joinery (Bench Joinery)

Location - North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire college, Harrowbrook construction campus Hinckley

Block release 4 days (Monday - Thursday) every 6 weeks

Things to consider

Qualifications are not essential. Basic communication skills and some maths skills will be required for the technical side of manufacturing bespoke Joinery including reading detailed drawings and written job specifications to work from and follow. The workshop environment can be noisy and fast paced. Be willing to learn and put into practise what you learn. Processes can be monotonous for manufacturing so a positive outlook would be beneficial.
