What you will do in your working day

  • Performs first-Off, Patrol and final inspections, as directed
  • Program/operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Visually inspect components for surface defects
  • Recommend rejection, rework, or re-test, as required
  • Reports inspection findings and results on the computer in MRP system
  • Generates non-conforming material reports (NCR) for items non-conforming items
  • Maintain records and prepares all paperwork relating to inspection and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR’s)
  • Produce FAIR’s as and when required
  • Maintain adequate measuring equipment and inspection fixture requirements
  • Makes recommendations for improvements, where needed
  • Supports the continuing 5-S and Lean manufacturing initiatives

The training you will be getting

  • An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence
  • You will be expected to work towards the Engineering Technician Level 3, with support from your employer and the Chesterfield College Group

You will also be required to attend Learning Unlimited Derby 1 day per week as part of day release: 13 Royal Scot Road, Derby DE24 8AJ
