What you will do in your working day

  • Working as part of the Ranger team, you will complete a range of countryside management tasks and activities on this wonderful 1300 acre estate. Wetlands, orchards, woodlands and lowland heath are backdrops to your day-to-day activities, whilst you’ll also help in caring for historic sites such as an iron age hillfort and local industrial heritage. 
  • We have a great team working environment, you’ll work alongside rangers, gardeners, volunteers and even a shipwright from time to time.
  • With big aspirations for the the estate, there is plenty for the successful applicant to get involved with. 

The training you will be getting

  • Working alongside your mentor on tasks specific to your apprenticeship, you will develop the skills & knowledge relevant to this apprenticeship standard qualification (Countryside worker Appreticeship level 2).
  • Your training will be delivered via a combination of mandatory week long college blocks (based at Sparsholt) and online learning
  • Functional Skills in maths and English, if required

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Can lead to an assistant ranger or ranger role and potentially move to a Level 4 Countryside Ranger apprenticeship after additional experience gained in role.
