What you will do in your working day

The IT Apprentice is tasked with managing Level 1 Helpdesk calls to resolve IT issues promptly, supporting the smooth operation of the Croydon office. The apprentice will document and learn the various technologies employed by office and factory staff, gradually building a comprehensive understanding of the systems in place.
As the primary contact for IT inquiries in the office, the apprentice will contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of the company’s IT knowledge base. This role involves working closely with departments such as Sales, Administration, HR, and Operations to ensure cohesive IT support throughout the organization.
Participation in IT projects is a key aspect of this role, offering the apprentice practical experience in project planning and execution. Positioned as a growth role within Real Data International, the apprentice is encouraged to develop specialist knowledge that will become increasingly valuable as they support not only the Croydon office but also remote offices across the UK and, eventually, during overseas expansion.
The apprentice is expected to engage in IT meetings, stay updated on new technologies, and assist in implementing IT solutions that drive efficiency and support the strategic growth of the company internationally.

Duties will include:

  • Manage Level 1 Helpdesk Calls: Act as the first point of contact for resolving IT issues, ensuring effective support and maintenance of IT operations in the Croydon office.
  • Document and Learn Technologies: Systematically document and learn about the administrative and operational technologies used within the office and factory settings to enhance technical proficiency.
  • Update Knowledge Bank: Regularly contribute to and update the IT knowledge bank, ensuring information is current and comprehensive.
  • Departmental Collaboration: Liaise with various departments including Sales, Administration, HR, and Operations to facilitate integrated IT support and enhance interdepartmental communications.
  • Participate in IT Projects: Engage in planning and executing IT projects, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to the projects’ success.
  • Support Expansion: Assist in the IT support of remote UK offices and contribute to the IT readiness for overseas expansion.
  • Professional Development: Pursue opportunities for professional growth by developing specialist IT knowledge and skills that are valuable to the company.
  • Attend IT Meetings: Participate in IT strategy meetings, providing insights and updates on current issues and progress.
  • Stay Informed: Keep abreast of the latest in technology and industry practices to suggest and support the implementation of innovative IT solutions.

The training you will be getting

Students will study day release at East Surrey College.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, candidates will gain the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship Standard.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be a permament role for the candidate within the IT Team.
