What you will do in your working day

·        Maintaining financial records – bank account reconciliation and input to Xero, banking, bill payments, issuing invoices to parents and organisations to whom New Ark provides services, tracking and processing payments (including tax credits and BACs payments), inputting data into salaries spreadsheet, liaising with payroll providers and the local authority, paying tax and National Insurance contributions to HMRC, and providing monthly forecasting information to support the management team and management committee in financial planning.

·        Fundraising – planning and organising fundraising events, requesting prizes from local organisations, arranging petty cash for floats, purchasing supplies from Cash and Carry, creating and distributing promotional and marketing material (e.g. posters, handouts and newsletters), liaising with organisations offering time, money, resources and opportunities for fundraising.

·        Funding – identifying potential funding sources and opportunities for savings and efficiencies, and sharing with committee.

·        Procurement – purchasing and stock control of all supplies for business operation.

·        Marketing and promotion – publishing material to promote New Ark and fundraising opportunities (e.g. EasyFundraising) on social media and New Ark’s website, annual report production, creating and distributing promotional and marketing material (e.g. posters, handouts, newsletters, letters to parents, noticeboard information).

·        Business compliance – maintaining licences (e.g. Gambling Licence, Music Licence and Tapestry) and memberships, record keeping to ensure compliance with Charity Commission and Companies House, maintaining appropriate insurance cover, ensuring PAT Testing, fire extinguisher and fire alarm monitoring and servicing, maintaining OFSTED registration, Health and Safety compliance, DBS checks, and mandatory training.

·        Administration – providing administrative support to Preschool, Holiday Club, Afterschool Club, Support, Eco and Farm, including creating and maintaining records of children and expected attendance.

·        Other duties include – greeting visitors, dealing with parent queries in person on the phone and via email, answering the telephone

The training you will be getting

You will need to attend Peterborough College 1 day per month, with the remaining time being in the place of work.  You will recieve an apprenticeship standard certificate of achievement on the succesful completion of an end point assessment.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a full-time position within the company.
