What you will do in your working day

  • Reporting to our Project Manager and providing assistance and support
  • Overseeing and assisting with tasks to manage our on site team who are based on sites around the UK
  • Basic knowledge of IT is essential as many tasks will involve using excel, word and outlook emails
  • Project scheduling and providing clients with quotes
  • Completing client questionnaires
  • Learning how to complete risk assessments and health & safety method statements
  • Managing personal protective equipment for staff

The training you will be getting

East Sussex College will provide the Business Administrator (Level 3) apprenticeship standard which will include the Diploma and Functional Skills in math and English if required.

East Sussex College will ensure Health & Safety, and Equality & Diversity.

We will pay for a CSCS course and the chance to go out on site and work on a rig to see how they work.

Functional Skills in English and maths if required.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

There will be an opportunity for the right candidate to join the company once the apprenticeship has finished. The role is quite varied with full support and training from our friendly team so will help develop the skills of the apprentice.

Things to consider

The office is based in St Leonards so transport to and from the office will be required. Company vans are available for business trips. We are a team of 31 staff who are based around the country. The office staff are mostly local and will be the ones who the apprentice will be with most of the time. The apprentice will report to the project manager who will designate the tasks each day. We are in a communal building shared with other businesses which has a breakout area and kitchen facilities. We have a monthly office lunch paid for by the company and as staff are based around the country, we try to ensure all staff get together for training days and fun social activities at least twice a year. With over 50 years experience in the industry, we specialise in the use of Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) techniques including seismic, shear vane, video cone, magnetometer, MiHpt & MOSTAP sampling. We are also specialists in the pressuremeter market and can offer our clients Self Boring Pressuremeters (SBPs), High Pressure Dilatometers (HPDs), Ménard Pressuremeter tests and Cone Pressuremeter. Our variety of CPT rigs (wheeled, tracked, mobile rams) enable us to work in most locations including railways, marine, brownfield sites and basements. No project is too big or too small and we have the capability to deploy multiple rigs to a site depending on the requirements of our clients.
