We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations and Maintenance apprentice to work with us in Maidstone, Kent. Your role will be to help and assist tradesmen in installations, testing, and commissioning of industrial systems. The company’s work is very diverse from industrial controls to large generation and backup power installations.

What you will do in your working day
Your duties will include:
- Working within the panel shop environment understanding the concepts of panel manufacture, understanding wiring schematics and layout GA’s.
- Assisting engineers with commissioning of controls systems, reading PLC code with hands on experience of code changes and HMI graphic implementation.
- Commissioning of control applications and 4-20ma loop validations.
- Assisting with panel and control cable installations.
- Understanding instrumentation installations and electrical switchgear applications.
The training you will be getting
Year 1 of the Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard, the learner will attend four days a week within IPS Rochester workshop completing practical skills (Performing Engineering Operations) and one day a week studying the Technical Certificate.
In Year 2, the Apprentice moves to day-release and will attend IPS one day a week to continue the Technical Certificate. Starting in Year 2 and continuing until completion in Year 4. The Apprentice will continue to receive regular training contact with IPS all throughout the programme.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there will the possibility of a design engineers' position.
