Reporting to the Project Engineer, you will assist with assembling, testing and fault-finding of electronics, and electromechanical devices, and support R & D and prototype manufacturing. The tasks will provide the opportunity to acquire a wide range of practical skills and broad technical knowledge.

What you will do in your working day

  • Assembly of surface mount printed circuit boards
  • Assembly of wiring harnesses
  • Assembly of circuit boards, wiring harnesses and mechanical parts into products
  • Component level testing of circuit boards
  • Inspection of machined parts

The training you will be getting

  • Level 3 Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship Standard qualification
  • Your training will take place during work at Edge Energy in Westbury and attending Wiltshire college and University centre Chippenham campus one day a week during term time

As your knowledge and skills improve, the role will expand to include a wider range of tasks and offer increased levels of responsibility, such as:

  • System level testing of subassemblies, software, and products
  • Designing assembly and test procedures
  • Creating assembly and test documentation
