What you will do in your working day
- Grounds Maintenance - Assist in mowing lawns, trimming edges and maintaining grassy areas to ensure a neat and well-kept appearance
- Landscape Cleanup - Perform routine cleanup tasks, including leaf removal, debris disposal and general site tidying
- Safety and Compliance - Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Adhere to local regulations and industry standards regarding landscaping practices. Report any safety hazards or incidents promptly
- Equipment Maintenance - Learn to operate and maintain landscaping tools and machinery, such as lawnmowers, tractors, and power tools. Learn to inspect and maintain landscaping equipment and tools, reporting any issues for repair or replacement
- Customer Interaction - Interact professionally with clients and residents as needed, addressing inquiries and providing information about maintenance activities. Address client concerns and inquiries as needed
- Team Collaboration - Work effectively as part of a landscape maintenance team, collaborating with team members on various tasks
The training you will be getting
This is a level 2 Horticulture Apprenticeship that includes the following mandatory qualifications:
- Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (1 Day course-Ofqual registered qualification)
- LANTRA Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides or C&G Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides
- LANTRA Level 2 Award in Safe Application of Pesticides Using Hand-Held Equipment or C&G Level 2 Award in Safe Application of Pesticides Using Pedestrian Hand-Held Equipment
- An apprentice is expected to attend college at least 1 day a week at the Botanical Garden Study Centre
- Functional Skills in English and maths if required
