What you will do in your working day

  • To work with all landscape based teams in delivering the maintenance programme to a high standard and within the given timescales. This includes tasks such as mowing, strimming, litter picking, shrub pruning, weeding and hedge cutting
  • To ensure that all necessary paperwork is handed in on time and completed in a professional manner
  • Complete all preoperational checks to machinery and vehicles in accordance with Bennett Landscapes & Maintenance Limited internal policy
  • To ensure that punctuality and attendance are always adhered to for Bennett Landscapes & Maintenance Limited also for Birmingham Metropolitan College
  • Ensure that all PPE and corporate uniform is always worn
  • To accompany a variety of teams in completing the cyclical and responsive work that is required across all our service areas
  • Ensure that Bennetts landscape programme is kept to a high standard and completed within the given timeframe
  • Promote and maintain a culture which places customers first and aims to deliver a high standard of service
  • To undergo training, on a day release basis under the supervision of Birmingham Metropolitan College

The training you will be getting

This is a level 2 Horticulture Apprenticeship that includes the following:

  • Mandatory Qualifications
  • Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (1 Day course-Ofqual registered qualification)
  • LANTRA Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides or C&G Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides
  • LANTRA Level 2 Award in Safe Application of Pesticides Using Hand-Held Equipment or C&G Level 2 Award in Safe Application of Pesticides Using Pedestrian Equipment
  • An apprentice is expected to attend college at least 1 day a week at the Botanical Garden Study Centre
  • Functional Skills in English and maths if required

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • A full-time position will be offered to those who successfully complete their apprenticeship
