What you will do in your working day

Our Environmental Buildings Group, of which you will be a part of, provides consultancy spanning Mechanical,  Electrical and Public health building systems and sustainability services  – energy, carbon & building certification.

 As a Design Consultant, you will be responsible for delivering sustainable engineering solutions to a varied client base.

·         You will work with senior members of the design group to deliver individual projects.

·          You will prepare calculations, specifications, and drawings, ensuring they are appropriate and comply with the client brief.

·         You will coordinate the design with other engineering disciplines within the group.

·         You will liaise with CAD continually and ensure that drawing information is at an appropriate standard.

·         Worth with our sustainability consultants, to reduce energy, carbon, in the built environment.

·         You’ll be supported by our leaders, technical specialists, dedicated mentors and our continuous learning and development framework accredited by CIBSE & IMechE.

·         Working on exciting projects from commercial office buildings to football stadiums developing your skills.

·         You will support Senior and Associate level Engineers and Consultants on larger projects but may ‘own’ less complicated projects.

Hilson Moran is a digital design practice, and we use a lot of digital design tools. In this role you will develop your skills in AutoCAD and Revit for most of our major building projects, we encourage creative communication of all technical solutions.

The training you will be getting

London South Bank University

This is a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Building Services Engineering, and you will attend London South Bank University one day per week during term time for the taught element. Four days per week will be spent working for Hilson Moran and we anticipate this being flexible working with a minimum of 3 days working from the London office and occasional working from home (where possible).

The anticipated duration for this apprenticeship is 66 months, but this will depend on any previous experience and the time taken to achieve the full range of competencies to complete the End Point Assessment (EPA). Following successful completion of the EPA, you will achieve a BEng (Hons) in Building Services Engineering as well as Incorporated Engineer status with the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).

Alongside the university-taught element, Hilson Moran will provide the following:

This is a permanent position, and throughout your apprenticeship and on completion of your degree, Hilson Moran will be committed to your development and career progression, supporting you as you work towards becoming a fully chartered engineer

Things to consider
