What you will do in your working day

Longacres Garden Centre Ltd, has one of the largest privately owned garden centres in Surrey. The Company now has five sites, one small shop in Chobham and four garden centres in Bagshot, Shepperton, Bybrook and Chelmsford. This role will be for our larger store in Bagshot.

To apply for this role, you will need to be passionate about horticulture and want to work outside with a wide range of plants. The role will be working outside in all weathers with a very hands-on approach. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to progress within the Horticulture industry as you will cover all aspects of horticulture including the development and maintenance of amenities within this area. As this site has a vast plant area you will be able to gain a great plant knowledge. This role is key to this area as all the plants need to be maintained daily ensuring further growth and a healthy appearance.

Some of your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Watering
  • Basic housekeeping
  • Potting
  • Pruning and deadheading of the plants
  • Dealing with customer enquiries and orders
  • Helping with deliveries and stocking of the area

The training you will be getting

  • Level 2 Horticulture Operative Apprenticeship
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in maths & English (if required)
  • Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
  • Level 2 PA2 Certificate (Safe Application of Pesticides)
  • Weekly day release into Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA)
  • An assessor will visit you in the workplace every 12-weeks
