Duties to include:

  • Meet and greet customers in a friendly and approachable manner
  • Operate till points
  • Deal with customer comments, requests, complaints and feedback in a polite manner
  • Make sure the customer leaves happy with their experience
  • Fulfil customer requests to the best of your ability
  • Offer customers further items periodically in the cafe e.g. more drinks, side orders, desserts
  • Know the values of the business and use these to inform the service you give to the customer
  • Be an ambassador for the Denstone Hall brand
  • Know why customers shop with us and what they expect
  • Promote the provenance of our products and how we support local suppliers
  • Understand that the customer sees and hears everything and that this informs their opinion of the customer service experience
  • Be fully aware of your responsibilities regarding the serving and sale of alcohol. Refer to (Head of Department) HOD if unsure
  • Upon completion of relevant training, run food to tables, clear tables
  • Report any damages which cannot be removed from the Café to the HOD, supervisor or a maintenance person immediately
  • Perform opening and closing tasks (including stock rotation, end of day stock check)
  • Keep the Cafe & Shop as clean and tidy as possible throughout the day
  • Restock items as required checking dates on items as you go 
  • Maintain accurate labelling of products
  • Perform temperature checks and other checks as required
  • Accept deliveries and ensure contents are checked off and stored away in the appropriate place efficiently or filled to the shelves quickly
  • Complete stock checks as required by management to a highly accurate standard, taking account of stock which may be stored off the shop floor
  • If assisting with Click and Collect, maintain high standards which the customer will expect (pick as if they were picking for themselves)
  • Be aware of health and safety and take measures to maintain this (e.g. clearing up spillages and using appropriate warning signs)
  • Be mindful of waste management procedures 
  • Any other duties that befit your role within the business or will contribute to the skills, knowledge and behaviours required by the apprenticeship standard

Desired qualifications

You should have a good standard of maths & English, ideally GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in maths and English.  There is a possibility of studying towards functional skills if you have not achieved the above.

There is potential for permanent employment and progression within the business on the successful completion of your apprenticeship.
