Summary

We are in search of an apprentice to become a valuable and integral member of our team. The core function of this role, is to provide general administration support and excellent customer service. The role will suit someone versatile, with a keen desire to learn and develop, allowing them to advance their position within the business.

Wage

£14,329.90 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Monday to Thursday, from 10:00 - 18:00. Friday, from 10:00 to 17:00.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • General administration/Office Junior duties.
  • Dealing with enquiries from the public looking to book Driving lessons, via; text, FB message, email, phone calls and occassionally in person.
  • Liaising with instructors and putting new bookings onto our diary management system.
  • Booking driving tests and theory tests.
  • Updating instructor statements and records for payments received.
  • General administrative duties including copying/ filing etc.
  • General officer junior duties to maintain a smooth running small office.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
  • Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

Training schedule

Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Delivery of course will take place online.

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

The start date for the Apprenticeship is planned for 25th February 2025. However, the employer would be looking to employ asap.

About this employer

Ellisons specialize in driver training. We have the driving school with a team of instructors teaching in cars.; this is the commercial division which we train for HGV (Class 1 & 2), CI 7.5 tons, DI minibus and soon to add Cat D buses. A large part of our strategic growth involves the HGV Skills Bootcamps we deliver with Somerset County Council and will be a key part of this job position.

After this apprenticeship

We are looking for someone who wants to learn and develop their skills as well as grow their confidence and functions within the business.  This will allow them to advance their position, after completing their apprenticeship, to be an integral member of the Ellisons Team.
