Summary

Work towards a L4 Quantity Surveying qualification whilst working with a leading contractor on a redevelopment site, assisting with the implementation of all commercial aspects of the project & working closely with the site team, involved with cost control, selection of contractors, dispute mitigation & recording income, expenditures & valuations.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

We are looking for a Level 4 Quantity Surveyor apprentice to work on a redevelopment site in Great Yarmouth, East Norfolk. The project includes demolition, provision of a 3-storey building, extension works, car parking, landscaping, infrastructure works and access road.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who would like to learn about the commercial side of construction. The qualification will also include elements of:

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Health and Safety: Apply health and safety issues to all activities.
  • Sustainability: Demonstrate application of the principles of sustainability.
  • Construction Technology: Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
  • Contracts: Be able to apply different types of contracts to different situations.
  • Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
  • Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
  • Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
  • Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.

Training schedule

The apprentice will work towards a Level 4 Quantity Surveyor Technician qualification receiving off the job training on a regular basis by means of remote sessions.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4/C)
  • Maths (grade 4/C)
  • Science (grade 4/C)

Other in:

CSCS (grade Pass)

Due to local transport and the location of the project, access to public transport from home address is vital, so own transport would be advantageous.

Training & Apprenticeships in Construction Ltd (TrAC) is a DfE approved Flexi Job Apprenticeship Agency who will employ you for the duration of the apprenticeship and pay your salary. You should be aware that you will be placed with a host employer but you will not be employed by them.
