Summary

We are seeking an Apprentice Flat Roofer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be working with various flat roofing systems including liquid coatings and felt membranes. You will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining flat roofs on residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Install flat roofing systems including torch-on felt,  liquid-applied membranes.
  • Inspect roofs to determine the best repair or replacement options.
  • Perform roof repairs including patching leaks, replacing damaged sections, and resealing surfaces.
  • Ensure all work meets safety standards and building codes, british standards
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Remove old roofing materials and prepare surfaces for new installations.
  • Work in various weather conditions and at heights.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.

Training

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Training schedule

You will complete a block week (every five weeks) at the Training Centre - Juniper Aldridge (near Walsall, West Midlands). This will involve travel and accommodation for the week. You will be required to do this for the duration of the apprenticeship (18 months). Monday - Thursday (Friday also, if maths and English are required).

GCSE in:

  • Maths (grade 4)
