Summary

As a Food and Drink Operative Apprentice at ABP Wessex, you will be part of an innovative and technically advanced environment, contributing to the efficiency and excellence of our manufacturing operations. This role will give you the opportunity for a hands-on learning experience and to learn about the world of food and drink.

Wage

£23,296 a year

On successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, salary will increase to C.£27,000

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

For this role, you’ll be part of our production team working in a chilled manufacturing environment. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Working to our customers specification to ensure that a high quality of product is produced.
  • You’ll learn about a variety of products that we produce on site, as well as the use a variety of machinery throughout the manufacturing process.
  • You will also learn to look at the correct labelling, weight and quality assurance documentation and ensuring that it’s completed appropriately and accurately.
  • Reporting defects and addressing concerns will also form part of this role, but all training will be provided.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll learn a variety of manufacturing techniques that will support the business to continually improve our operational functions. Therefore, it’s a great opportunity to learn hands-on in a technically advance food environment. You’ll also complete a variety of qualifications such as Food Hygiene and Food Safety courses, as well as working towards your Level 2 Food & Drink apprenticeship programme. If required, we’ll also support you through your Functional Skills in Maths and English.

  • Collect and interpret information – text and data.
  • Record information - paper based or electronic.
  • Use information technology.
  • Follow work instructions - verbal or written.
  • Communicate with colleagues - verbal and non-verbal.

Training schedule

Training will be delivered on site with regular visits from the training provider who will support and guide you through every step of the process.
