Tyrers Coaches (Chorley Depot) has an exciting opportunity for ambitious, driven individuals to join the company's engineering department as an Apprentice, working towards completing Level 3 Bus and Coach Engineering Technician Apprenticeship in association with Total People Ltd and Manchester College.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

This excellent opportunity is aimed at learners who are interested in forging a career within the bus and coach sector, in particular within a thriving and well-established family-owned operation with more than 50 years industry experience.

  • *Conducting 6-week inspections of vehicles to specified standards
  • * Diagnosing faults using latest diagnostic equipment
  • * Completing effective mechanical repairs
  • * Completing all relevant documentation to a high standard
  • * Preparation of vehicles for MOT
  • * Completing accurate records and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • * Removing and replacing faulty/damaged parts
  • * Repair of body and panel components
  • * Fitting and servicing parts
  • * Safe operation of specialist tools and testing/lifting equipment
  • * Assisting with repair/recovery of defective vehicles off-site
  • * Other related activities as operationally required

Training schedule

Bus and Coach Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Level 3 This will be delivered through a mix of face-to-face learning, remote reviews, online assessments, self-study, practical skills training and one-to-one coaching facilitated at our training centre in Wythenshawe (off-the-job) - through block release sessions.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Mathematics (grade 4)
