Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
As an Apprentice at Chatsworth, you’ll be part of a fast-moving PR agency that specialises in financial technology, global markets, and current affairs. You’ll be learning how to deliver impactful communications for clients while working towards a Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in PR (equivalent to a foundation degree).
If you’ve studied subjects like economics, politics, business, or history, and you keep a close eye on the news, this could be the perfect way to turn your interests into a career.
You’ll spend four days a week working alongside our team and one day studying towards your qualification. On the job, you’ll gain hands-on experience using the tools and techniques that shape how organisations are seen in the media. You’ll build knowledge of the UK and international fintech world, working with clients ranging from ambitious start-ups to major global institutions.
This role will suit someone who’s curious, sharp, enthusiastic, and confident to dive straight in. It’s a busy environment, but you’ll be supported and mentored every step of the way.
Some of the things you’ll be doing:
- Researching and learning about the fintech industry, global markets, and current affairs.
- Getting to know your clients—their businesses, goals, and competitors.
- Understanding how PR works and what makes the Chatsworth approach unique.
- Following the media—spotting the key journalists, outlets, and stories that matter to your clients.
- Monitoring coverage and preparing client reports.
- Helping pitch stories to journalists by phone and email.
- Practising PR writing—press releases, articles, comments, and social content.
- Supporting award submissions and tracking industry deadlines.
- Creating LinkedIn posts and visuals using Canva.
- Contributing to the Chatsworth blog and social channels.
- Learning how an agency operates, from managing client relationships to running internal systems.
You’ll learn a lot—and fast. By the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll have a solid foundation for a career in PR, communications, or media.

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Use IT systems and software to support campaigns.
- Build stakeholder relationships including developing contacts within the media and presenting to them in both formal and informal settings.
- Support campaigns by undertaking tasks such as desk research, event co-ordination, and database management to ensure compliance with agreed service or performance levels.
- Produce written content such as news releases, articles, social media content, bulletins, and blogs, that is accessible to meet the needs of different audiences and channels.
- Able to adapt communication styles as appropriate to the audience.
- Support the production of non-written content such as film production management, producing short user generated style content, live video streaming, social image creation, and infographic production.
- Distribute content using social media channels.
- Use qualitative and quantitative research to analyse and evaluate public relations and communications activities and present findings to project stakeholders.
- Analyse and interpret complex subjects through different communication channels and identify areas for improvement.
- Input to and review communications programmes and plans with a focus on environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles within their organisation's procedures.
- Undertake risk assessment and provide information to support stakeholder planning and strategy.
- Plan and deliver engagement activities for stakeholders, such as curating the content, supporting events, and collating feedback.
- Proofread and edit communications materials such as news releases, graphics and video, and social media content.
- Support team and colleague development through buddying or coaching.
- Contribute to activities which focus on improving sustainability within their organisation's procedures.
- Apply relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and ethical guidance where appropriate to their work.

- You will develop a wide understanding of Public Relations and the impact it has on businesses
- As a Public Relations and Communications Apprentice, you will follow a Level 4 Public Relations Assistant apprenticeship standard, with a PRCA Qualification
- This will involve “on the job” training, virtual visits from an Apprenticeship Coach, an internal line manager to provide ongoing guidance, online learning, and creating a portfolio of evidence
- Attendance to 50+ high-quality PRCA industry-training courses.
- Functional Skills in maths and English if required
- As an apprentice, you will be working towards an End-Point Assessment (EPA) which will determine if you have the knowledge, skills, and behaviours listed in the PR & Communications Assistant Standard
- PRCA is the training provider for this apprenticeship, as well as the largest membership and industry body for the PR & Communications industry
