Summary

Northern Skills are recruiting on behalf of New Life Daycare for a Level 3 Early Years Educator. To support the teaching and learning to individuals and/or groups of pupils in the learning environment. Working within a set of clear guidelines and instructions, and under the direct supervision of a teacher.

£11,778 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Child Development and Care:

  • Provide high-quality care and education to children, ensuring their individual needs are met
  • Support children’s holistic development, including their social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth
  • Deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum effectively, adapting activities to suit the developmental stages and interests of each child
  • Encourage children’s independence, confidence and self-esteem through positive reinforcement and engaging activities
  • Identify and support children with additional needs, working closely with specialist when required

Environment Management:

  • Create and maintain a safe, clean and stimulating environment that promotes learning through play
  • Organise resources and material to support a variety of activities, ensuring they are age appropriate and inclusive
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the setting
  • Promote healthy practices, including hygiene routines, balanced nutrition and physical activity

Planning and Assessment:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate activities that align with the EYFS framework
  • Observe and assess children’s progress maintaining detailed and accurate records to track their development
  • Use observations to inform planning and tailor activities to meet the needs and interests of individual children
  • Prepare reports and share insights with parents, carers and colleagues to ensure a collaborative approach to each child’s development

Parental Engagement:

  • Build strong, positive relationships with parents and carers acting as a trusted point of contact
  • Communicate regularly with families about their child’s progress, achievement and any concerns
  • Provide guidance and support to parents offering advice on child development and learning strategies
  • Encourage parental involvement in the setting’s activities and events to foster a sense of community

Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the setting and consistency in care
  • Share ideas, resources and best practices with team members to enhance the quality of provision
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices and policies

Safeguarding and Compliance:

  • Follow safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the welfare and protection of all children
  • Be vigilant in identifying and reporting any signs of abuse, neglect or other concerns in line with organisational protocols
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including health and safety regulations, data protection and equality and diversity policies

What you'll learn

  • Recognise when a child or a colleague is in danger or at risk of abuse and act to protect them in line with safeguarding policy and procedure.
  • Apply legislation, policy and procedure to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of children in the setting (for example, food safety, diets, starting solid food, allergies, COSHH, and accidents, injuries, and emergencies).
  • Apply the principles of risk assessment and risk management within documentation and practice.
  • Teach children to develop skills to manage risk and maintain their own and others safety.
  • Use a range of communication methods, including technology, with other professionals to meet the individual needs of the child.
  • Develop and maintain effective professional, collaborative relationships with others involved in the education and care of the child.
  • Undertake the role and responsibilities of key person.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

Maths and English (grade Grade 4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

About this employer

New Life Day Care welcomes children from the ages of 6 weeks up to 5 years old. We are a full day care/wrap around setting and welcome two, three and four year funding to children in the community.
